Mushing is the Alaskan lifestyle for Elke and Matt Hall, owners and lead mushers of Silver Ace Kennel.
They live in an off-grid, solar panel yurt. An outside well on their 40 acres and a wood shed for their stove is a part of daily life. With sled dogs being at the center of it.
Each day starts and ends with taking care of their canine companions. While daily life together is why they do it, racing is their goals and their achievements. Matt and Elke together have won 5 vet care awards in their careers. Awards given for outstanding care of the dogs while finishing in the top field of the race.
They have won many races such as the Copper Basin 300, Yukon Quest Alaska 300, Solstice 50 and 20.
Matt and their team of Aces were champions of The Yukon Quest 1,000 in 2017 and finished 2nd place in Iditarod, 2024 and 2025. The largest and most competitive sled dog race in the world.

* 2 seats or 430lbs per ride at one time. Groups larger then 2 or 430lbs will go out on separate rides.

Aurora Borealis is like the weather- sometimes it rains, sometimes it doesn't. It is IMPOSSIBLE to guarantee that Auroras will dance on your booked night. But we can guarantee an experience with FUN - one that you will never forget!
We have a wheeled cart for just the occasion! It is non-motorized so the magical bond of dog and rider will feel just the same as the sled.
While mother nature does what she wants with the amount of snow on the ground (we need 1.5ft of snow for the sleds to glide properly) we understand a cart is not the Alaskan experience you were expecting. In this case, we will offer a $35 dollar discount per person if a sled ride is not an option. But we guarantee you will not be disappointed! The magic is in the sled dog and the midnight sky- both we will have ample of!
